Blepharoplasty, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, is a procedure designed to remove excess skin, eliminate bags, and restore the youthful shape of the eyelids. Surgery can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both. Whether you’re looking to remedy the effects of aging, or simply enhance your appearance, blepharoplasty offers a rejuvenating solution.
Our procedures are performed under local anaesthesia, combined with sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery. The typical procedure involves:
Incisions for blepharoplasty are strategically placed in the natural creases of your eyelids or inside the lower lid, making scars well-concealed once healed.
Blepharoplasty can effectively address ptosis only in cases where the issue primarily involves severe herniated fat pads and excess dermatochalasis of the upper lids.
The results of blepharoplasty are generally long-lasting. Upper eyelid surgery can last at least 5 to 7 years, and lower eyelid surgery rarely needs to be repeated. However, aging will continue, and some may choose to undergo additional procedures later on.
Blepharoplasty usually takes between one to three hours, depending on whether you’re having both the upper and lower eyelids done.
Most patients experience minimal pain during and AFTER the surgery due to local anesthesia and post-operative pain management.
Most patients return to normal activities within 10 to 14 days, but complete recovery, especially from swelling and bruising, might take several weeks. Strenuous activities should be avoided for at least three weeks.
